Sam & Buzz | Sweet Southwark Stroll | Sneak Preview

Sam and Buzz’s pre-wedding shoot was the first time we’d all met, as they booked us for their wedding following speaking to us on the telephone. It was funny, as after the initial conversation with Sam, we spoke again later in the day when Sam announced that they were emigrating to Australia in just a few weeks! So we set about scheduling their pre-wedding shoot pretty fast so that we could meet them before they head off for their exciting new life, returning next year just a few days before their wedding. We all had a great time wandering around Southwark, and it only occurred to me afterwards just how apt a location it was for Sam and Buzz’s pre-wedding shoot. Southwark is home to the London Design Museum, and Sam and Buzz are both very talented designers. As always- a small sneak preview for now. More to follow!

Jo & Steve | Bolsover Castle Wedding | Sneak Preview

A couple of weeks ago Erica and I had the pleasure of photographing Jo and Steve’s special day at Bolsover Castle. We knew from their pre-wedding shoot with us that they were both very sweet with each other in front of the camera, so when you throw in the awesome backdrop of Bolsover Castle and some amazing evening light…well, we knew it was going to be special! As always, here’s just a small sneak preview for now…

See what I mean about the light?!

Shoes this special deserve their own photo.

Sarah & Carl | Beningbrough Hall Happiness | Sneak Peek

A few weeks ago Erica and I were up in York photographing Sarah and Carl’s wedding, and what a day it was. (You might remember Sarah and Carl’s pre-wedding shoot).

The scene for Sarah and Carl’s most special of days was the most beautiful Georgian house, Beningbrough Hall, set in equally beautiful country gardens, and then on to the impressive Aldwark Manor for the reception. This is just a brief sneak peek for now but as you’ll see from these first two photographs, the sun was out, skies were clear, and there was most definitely love in the air!

Louise & Ed’s Perfect Summer Picnic | Pre-wedding shoot

We always offer a pre-wedding shoot with our wedding photography packages. Some people are quite nervous about the photographic aspects of their wedding day which can often be the one and only time they will ever be professionally photographed, and meeting the couple beforehand for a pre-wedding shoot has in every case settled nerves and actually shown that they’ll actually enjoy having us as their photographers. Apart from that, a pre-wedding shoot is just a really good opportunity for Erica and I to get to know the soon-to-be newlyweds and understand more about the dynamics between them and how best to capture this naturally. Some couples choose to keep their pre-wedding shoots simple and pure, whilst others sometimes have more specific ideas for the shoot. Louise and Ed fall into the latter category, which is always quite exciting for us! When planning their pre-wedding shoot we raised the idea of some props and they came back to us with a picnic blanket and a Japanese parasol, among other things, as these things defined what they were about and held some significance in their memories. So the scene was set for a picnic shoot, and for us as photographers this just had to be shot in that golden evening sunlight that we’ve been enjoying an abundance of over recent weeks. Unfortunately the first shoot we scheduled was cancelled due to thunder and rain, but we struck gold on the second try and we were blessed with the most perfect weather on what was the longest day of 2010. Erica and I had great fun, and we know Louise and Ed did too. We can’t wait to photograph their big day at Hargate Hall in Buxton! For now, here’s the full post of some of our favourites from the pre-wedding shoot. Enjoy. (PS- Louise and Ed- thanks again for the very delicious apple and chocolate cake!).
