Now that we’ve met up with Catherine and Joe for their viewing session, we’re thrilled to share our favourite images from their big day. Where do I start about this wonderful wedding? First and foremost, Catherine and Joe are great people – welcoming, friendly, easy to get along with, and with such an evident love for one another that it was a complete delight to photograph their wedding. In every photograph of the two of them together something leaps out of the image – a real spark that they share. And real naturals in front of the camera to boot. Next up, add in some gorgeous weather – the warmest and most beautiful day of the year to date (we topped it in the warmth stakes with our wedding last weekend, but more on that in a future post!) gave the day a relaxed and timeless feel, and some glorious light in the evening for couple shots. On top of that Catherine and Joe were joined by a great bunch of family and friends, many of whom we had the pleasure of talking to throughout the day. The icing on the cake (literally in the case of, well, the wedding cake!) were some pretty details and the top notch organisation of the day by the excellent staff at Ringwood Hall.
As usual I started my day with the bride to capture some candid shots of the pre-wedding preparations. Catherine’s family were a lovely group of people to spend my morning with, with Catherine’s mum preparing some tasty cheese cobs to keep everyone going. Catherine’s hair and make-up was expertly done by the lovely Hazel Humphries of Creative Colours. These are some of my favourite ever ‘getting ready’ shots…
We had an exceptionally relaxed and enjoyable start to the day, and then it was time to set off…
The gorgeous bride leaving with her proud father Ed. Catherine looked so excited, it was lovely to see!
Meanwhile Joe and his party met up with Chris for their own photo shoot. I am really loving Chris’s work here, especially the brilliant candids coming up…
Now, would you like your groomsmen (a) manly and serious…
…Or (b) sweet and smiley?…
We can tell you they’ve gone for option (a) for the album, but as you can see we like a bit of both here at Christian Ward Photography!
Next up, one of the stars of the show…Joe’s gorgeous little boy Stanley. Is it possible NOT to smile when you look at this photo?
The ceremony was beautiful and it was a real honour for me to capture the moment Joe and Catherine became husband and wife…
The story behind the scant confetti and indeed confetti throwers was Catherine’s (apparently very) strict instructions to guests to bring real petal confetti only! Stanley wasn’t going to let being the only thrower put him off though, and he carried out this most crucial of duties with great enthusiasm!
A beautiful wedding cake deserves some atmospheric lighting…
After dinner it was still beautifully warm so we went for a stroll round the beautiful Ringwood Hall grounds to take some relaxed couple shots. I’m really struggling to pick my absolute favourite out of these, but Catherine and Joe were a real joy to work with and all of these photographs are a reflection of that…
A sneaky break from couple shots for these beautiful images of Catherine looking radiant. And did I mention the absolutely gorgeous light!?
Joe is back in the picture for these final favourites…
Such happiness!
The day passed on into a fun-filled night after a heartfelt first dance…
And I can’t resist finishing with a final favourite couple shot – Chris took this one and I love it! Thank you to Catherine and Joe, and to all your guests for being so lovely and welcoming – we can’t wait to get started on your album!
