Rachel & Tom’s Manchester Pre-Wedding Shoot

They met over the humble cauliflower, and from that point on, the common garden vegetable would always hold a special place in their hearts. We love it when couples bring special meaning into their shoot with the use of props that mean something to them, but when Rachel and Tom said they’d brought a cauliflower I was quite surprised. As it happened, it was actually quite a fancy-looking cauliflower (of the Romany variety) and looked great in the photos, as did the red chillis that Rachel also brought with her. You’ll just have to look to see how they incorporated them into the shoot!

Rachel and Tom are getting married at the lovely Inn at Whitewell in Clitheroe in June and we can’t wait to document their special day for them. Rachel and Tom are a lovely couple…one of those that just looks so right together, and Erica and I had a fun time walking around the Castlefield area of Manchester for their pre-wedding shoot. Enjoy your photos Rachel and Tom, and we’ll see you on your big day!

Lucy and Chris had a lovely wedding at Kensington Roof Gardens last year. So lovely, in fact, that Rock My Wedding are featuring it today as a real wedding! Here’s a link to parts 1 and 2 of the feature, and anybody wanting to see the full post we made packed full of so many great moments and details of Lucy and Chris’s wedding can find it on our blog here!

Thanks again to Charlotte for featuring it and to Lucy for taking the time to answer all the questions for the write-up 🙂 Christian Ward Photography is enjoying lots of publicity and there’s more exciting news in the pipeline….blog post to follow soon!

Lisa & David’s Northamptonshire Wedding | March 2011 {sneak preview}

One of the ways I sometimes describe our photography style is beautiful, relaxed and romantic.  I was considering those words earlier today while I was thinking about posting Lisa and David’s wedding sneak preview, and I realised that they suited their family-orientated, vintage inspired wedding day to a tee.  Lisa and David were married at one of the most beautiful churches we’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph in, All Saints in Earl’s Barton, Northamptonshire and had their reception at the splendid Dunchurch Park Hotel.  Here are some of our favourites showing snippets from each part of the day – as you’ll see, Lisa and David are just the sweetest couple and Lisa made the prettiest bride!

Yorkshire Sculpture Park (minus the sculptures) – A Day Off

Last week was Erica’s birthday and so we thought we’d take advantage of some nice weather and make a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It’s only 45 minutes drive from us so it’s kind of strange that we’ve never been before, but having just booked Louise and Alex’s 2012 wedding there we thought it would be nice to have a day out and see it. I imagine that you’re expecting to see lots of photos of sculptures, and if that’s the case then this blog post may disappoint. As much as I like sculptures, there’s something about taking photos of just a sculpture that doesn’t really do much for me…I think they’re best enjoyed in person in 3-d, and not by looking at a photograph of them. Overall it was nice to be out and about and as spring is coming on more and more each day I wanted to take a few photos to document this time of year and capture the great light we had. As you’ll see, one of the sculptures does feature in a couple of shots! After a lovely day we’re really looking forward to shooting a wedding there next year.

I liked the way the light was coming through this sculpture. You can see the whole sculpture in one of the photos below.

If you look closely at the bottom right of the photo, you can see a couple of sneaky Canadian geese creeping into the shot…like they didn’t know what they were up to!

undefined

At first I wondered if the windows being dirty would ruin the shot but then I think I actually quite like how some of the panes are a bit misty and some are quite clear…makes the view through the windows look like patchwork!

No sneaky Canadian geese on this one (as far as I can tell!)
