Prizes Galore and Christian Ward Photography Blog v2.0

We have plans for 2010. Big plans. No, wait- big BIG plans.

No, wait again- BIG BIG BI…I think you get the message (about the big plans).

Our blog is going to become multi-dimensional. You’ll notice that at the moment we mainly use it to showcase the weddings we photograph in order to give you a better look at our work than what can be given in our website galleries. We like it that way but we realise it could be so much more. So it’s going to do all the stuff it usually does, but with extra content and a wider appeal:

-Want to read interviews with local wedding vendors that we like? Check.

-Want to see photos from some of the best wedding photographers around the world, and hear what they have to say to Christian Ward Photography? You betcha.

-Want general wedding day tips from wedding professionals for brides, grooms and photographers? Yessiree.

-Want Krispy Kreme doughnuts to be available by mail order? Well we want this too, but it’s not good news I’m afraid. Freshly baked goods don’t travel well in the post, apparently. I say it’s worth a shot- a squashed, 2 day old glazed maple doughnut is better than no maple glazed doughnut.

We’re excited about it and we just wanted to spread the news. Sign up to our blog, follow us on Twitter, become a fan of our Facebook page- just do whatever you need to do to ensure you don’t miss out on our updates. In fact, anybody signing up to all 3 (blog, Twitter and Facebook) during February 2010 will get a prize. Don’t worry, we’ll be able to spot who you are and will contact you for a postal address to receive the goodies!

Lastly, because we can’t have a blog post without a photo, here’s another from Canada. This is Mount Rundle in the heart of Banff National Park, one of our favourite places.

Vintage Canada Photography

Back in October 2009 Erica and I took one of our beloved trips to Canada. Having been so busy with weddings since then, we’ve had little time to look through all of our many photos from our holiday but this weekend I managed to sift through a few and identify some favourites. I’ve got a few plans for the photos but for now I’ve been experimenting with post-processing to give them a vintage, old film appearance- especially since it seems to suit the subject matter; much of our journey took us through the old, virtually untouched interior of British Columbia. Let us know what you think! I’ve posted a few vintage-styled photos from our most recent Canada trip before for anybody wanting to see more!

Dawn Ward - Great photos Chris! Just wanted a mention about the photo of the cars. My mom has the car in the top left, it’s a Chevy. Amazing how it looks old-style in black and white! She got hers in 2008 I think…

Jamie Sangar - Wow. Love these. You should definitely sell these prints…you could make a fortune! Beautiful work!

Happy Valentine’s Day | Engagement Photography Special Offer!

We hope you’ve all had a lovely, romantic time on Valentine’s Day. We’ve been racking our brains to come up with a suitable way to celebrate, and decided that the best possible way was with a fantastic special offer.  We’re offering a free engagement shoot to the first five recently engaged couples to contact us here quoting ‘Valentine’s Offer.’ Please also tell us when and where you’re getting married.

What is a Christian Ward Photography engagement shoot?
Aimed at engaged couples as a unique way of celebrating your engagement and sharing your wonderful news with your family and friends, we offer you a personalised portrait shoot and we also create a fantastic mini movie-style slideshow from the resulting images, which you can email to your nearest and dearest.  You might like to use it to simply announce your engagement, or – if you’re the organised type who sorted your wedding date the second you got engaged – as a modern day save-the-date. For an example, please view the video below:

(if you’re viewing this blog post in an email from your subscription, please click here to view the video).

Wasn’t that lovely!  In addition we will shortlist all the best images from your engagement shoot and upload them to a web gallery for you to choose any that you would like to buy as prints or electronic files. This special offer is worth £75, and in addition the very first eligible couple to make contact will receive a free framed print from their engagement shoot.

Please note there are a few restrictions on this offer so please read carefully before applying:
This offer is not open to our existing wedding photography enquirers and clients (you’re entitled to a pre-wedding shoot as part of your wedding photography package, so don’t worry!) You must be recently engaged. If you choose to have your engagement shoot on location, we charge travel expenses if your chosen location is outside our local area – further details available on request. However we do love to travel, and we only charge travel at cost so please don’t let it put you off!  We’re hoping that you will love your engagement shots so much that you book us for your wedding photography!  Whilst this is in no way a condition (i.e. if you have your engagement shoot with us it does NOT commit you to booking us for your wedding photography and we promise there’ll be no hard sell!) it does mean that this offer isn’t open to those couples who have already booked a wedding photographer or to those with a wedding on a date that we’re unavailable.

Alana & Paul | Wedding Photography Mini Video

One of the things we love to do at Christian Ward Photography is show clients their wedding photographs in a way that is memorable and continues the experience they’ve had with us.  We spend quite some time after your wedding hand picking a hundred or more of our favourite photographs – ones we know you’ll love and which combine to really tell the story of your day – processing them and compiling them to create a movie-style slideshow and with KreAdiv Collective  an awesome videography production option.

We’ve just had a lovely time with Alana, Paul and Paul’s mum Pauline this evening, showing them their slideshow and handing over their proof book so they can start to pick their album photos.  Our full slideshows last nearly ten minutes but I thought it would be fun to share a mini version with you.  It’s only 30 seconds or so but take a look and you’ll see why we love making these slideshows so much.  They’re really different from the norm and we hope you enjoy…just be careful if you’re viewing at work, because there’s music too!
