Charlotte & Kiran’s Autumn Wedding | September 2009

It was a real pleasure to spend time with Charlotte and Kiran and their wonderful families for their relaxed and intimate wedding.  It was one of those days at the end of September when the weather took a turn for the autumnal, but we still had some good light on our side, and created some beautiful images, which we hope have captured the warm spirit of their special day.  As usual we start with the bride’s preparations at her parents’ home in Sheffield, moving on to the groom’s party as they awaited the bride at St. James church in Norton.  I would like to say a special thanks at this point to Joy and Mike, Charlotte’s parents, who were so welcoming when I came to their house in the morning to take photos of Charlotte getting ready.

Not a part of the day that we usually show in black and white but these just looked fantastic in monochrome!

The guests and wedding party moved onto the Red Lion at Stone Edge for the reception, and we moved on to our favourite part of the day – some quiet time with the newlyweds.  It’s a real privilege for us to be able to capture beautiful moments like these:

This is Chris’s favourite shot of mine from the day.  I took it while he was getting some close-ups in the same location:

And this is my favourite of his from the day.  They look so happy and at ease with each other, and the delicate lighting and processing finish it off to perfection:

It was a real joy to shoot Charlotte & Kiran’s couple photographs because they were so at ease together in front of the camera.  We like to be unobtrusive and create a relaxed atmosphere so that having photos taken is a nice experience for the couple and becomes an enjoyable part of the day.  It allows us to get lovely relaxed images as a result.

And finishing the couple shots with another of my favourite shots by Chris from the day:

The wedding reception room at the Red Lion looked a real treat, especially the beautiful floral table centrepieces, elegant lighting and fantastic cake:

And after dinner the night got started with chinese lanterns, which was great fun for the guests.  Once they got the hang of it, quite a few took off, with the minimum of accidents!

Thank you Charlotte & Kiran for letting us be part of your special day and take your wedding photographs – we had a great time and hope you enjoy reliving the day with these images.

Kia Gregory - Love the Chinese lanterns idea! Love all the images as well! The softness in the color images are beautiful.

Autumn in Canada | Sneak Preview | Sheffield Wedding Photographer in Canada

A few Blog posts ago I mentioned that Chris and I had taken a little break for our holidays.  We had an absolutely wonderful time in Canada, doing a self-planned road trip across British Columbia and Alberta, starting in the breath-taking city of Vancouver and flying out from Calgary.  We visited some beautiful places, and in addition to the perhaps more well-known Canadian landscape of forested mountain slopes and sparkling pristine lakes, we also drove through some amazing cowboy country, and visited some gorgeous First Nations villages.  Here is just a teeny tiny sneak preview…I really hope to do a proper Blog post sometime in the not-too-distant future, but we have so many photographs to sort through that it could take me a while!

First up is a cool character who Chris met in Merritt, which is a really fantastic city, and Canada’s country music capital.  He was just sitting on a street corner watching the world go by, and Chris asked if he would mind having his photo taken, to which he said a very obliging yes and told Chris some tales of his time working as a logger and rancher.

We made a brief stop at tiny Cook’s Ferry en route to Merritt.  This is the home of a First Nations band of the Nlaka’pamux people.  The church was absolutely beautiful and the crisp autumn weather was just gorgeous.

Some people may be surprised at the level of detail we know about the visitors to our blog. Thanks to Google Analytics, we can easily run reports that tell us how many people visit our site, where they’re from, what they look at and how long for, whether they use a PC or a Mac, how they found our site, and a whole host of other things such as what they ate for tea last night. (I was joking about one of those things). It always surprises me just how far and wide our blog reaches, and so I thought I would share a snippet of information with you. Over the last 7 days alone, we have had visitors from no less than 11 countries; see below to see which ones! So whichever country you may be in when you’re reading this, from our land to yours (in order of the list below):

Hello, s’up, hey, hai, g’day sport, hallo, namaste, goeden dag, hola, hallo, Привет
