Abi’s New Computer | Christmas 2009

It’s the first day of 2010 and we had a family gathering at my brother’s house to celebrate. Erica and I spent quite a bit of time with Abi, our niece, as she put her new computer through it’s paces! I never thought I’d see the day where my brother let a PC over the threshold of his house, but I’m sure he’ll have Abi on an Apple Mac at some point soon. Meet Abigail Davinia Ward; already a computer whizz at just 5 years of age, she has announced her plans to be a photographer when she grows up!

tim - Really good photos! Thanks! And yeah its really gone against all my ethics to allow a PC through the front door…! Bit of a steep learning curve for me as well… think she knows her way around it better than I do…

Jane and Neil’s Sheffield City Wedding | December 2009 | Sneak Preview

Last week we had the pleasure of photographing Jane and Neil’s charming city wedding.  We were blessed with some beautiful winter light, as well as a bride and bridesmaid who wrapped up warm so they could enjoy their photos!  As well as a very sweet bridesmaid in Ellie, this wedding featured one of my favourite pairs of wedding shoes and a great couple who braved the dark and icy December night by heading out again with us after dinner to make the most of the nocturnal cityscape.  Just a sneak preview for now – more to follow shortly!

West Coast Glow | Sheffield Wedding Photographer in Canada

There’s something special about the light of the west coast of North America. That soft, golden glow makes for great photography and I love the vibrant yet romantic atmosphere that it brings. Here are a few more photos from our recent trip to Canada where we got plenty of sunshine. All we need to do now is find a way to bottle it and bring it back!

This shot was taken just after the sun had dipped beneath the horizon. This particular place was in Tofino on Vancouver Island.

On our journey from an old ghost town where we stayed the night, we were passing through an old town called Hedley. On the way out we passed some abandoned vintage cars at the side of the road, so I decided to turn around and get some photos.

This was one of the other cars. As a number of people who have seen this photo have thought it’s a picture of an old advert, I thought I’d better point out that this actually is one of my photos- one that I made up to look like an old advert for the car!

This last one was taken on our journey through the interior of British Columbia on our way to Lillooet, a small logging and ranching town in the Fraser Canyon with a strong native American community and culture, being one of the main population centres of the St’at’imc (Lillooet Nation).

Francesca & David | …& Counting | Belated full post!

Hope this isn’t too confusing, since you will have already seen Fran and David’s beautiful wedding images, and now here I am posting photographs from their pre-wedding shoot!  But since we never got past a sneak preview, and since we have some truly gorgeous images to share with you, it didn’t seem right not to revisit them.  I should also say we are in the middle of a big rush of album orders, but we don’t like to leave it too long without sharing a few more pictures with you, so here we go…

The pre-wedding shoot took place at a new location for us – Wentworth Castle Gardens.  It was very pretty and we have every intention of paying another visit there some time in the future.  As you will see Fran and David were excellent models and we had a great time with them on the shoot.

I love the wistful mood of these first two…

We like to do a mixture of separate and couple portraits on our pre-wedding shoots, and Fran and David chose to split up first – Chris wandered off with David, trying to bag all the best locations, and Fran and I went in the opposite direction, meeting up in a lovely tree-lined avenue for some shots of the two together later on.

I just love this black and white one of Fran – so atmospheric!
