Erica and I don’t like to blow our own trumpets, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things we’re proud of! Over the last few years we’ve had real weddings featured in various magazines, as well as our Pretty Little Gypsy Wedding shoot that was published as a fashion feature in You & Your Wedding magazine and what’s more was the first time You & Your Wedding magazine have published a shoot they’ve not commissioned. We wanted to create a place to gather together all the press we’ve received, and so we thought it fitting to do a short post about it here to herald the new Press section on our main website. It features the front covers to the issues we’ve been in, and it’s fully functional so that you can click on each cover to see the spreads, and if you click on each spread you can also download a PDF of the article for reading at leisure. We’re proud to have our work published in these places and hope to see the Press section become more and more full as time goes on. So here’s a little preview of what it all looks like:

We’re in You & Your Wedding magazine for the second issue running, but this time not in the usual form of our work displaying a real wedding, but in the form of a fashion feature! We’re going to do a full post displaying lots of photos once this issue is no longer on the shelves, but for now we just wanted to let you all know about this latest feature. Back in February of this year, we came up with the creative concept for a styled shoot, based not on the outlandish style of the gypsy weddings you may have caught sight of on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, but on an altogether prettier, vintage and folky style of a more traditional gypsy wedding. It took us around a month or so to plan in fine detail, sourcing great suppliers who fitted well with the concept, and not to mention the genuine old Romany caravan that we arranged use of for the shoot we eventually carried out on gypsy land just outside Blackpool on a beautiful day in March. Once again, a big thank you to the many amazing suppliers we collaborated with- we couldn’t have done it without you and we can’t recommend you highly enough to brides and grooms! We can’t wait to share the many images from the shoot, but for now, head out to get the latest You & Your Wedding magazine! This Sunday, 21st November, Christian and I will be exhibiting at the Sheffield Park Hotel wedding fayre. We don’t do many wedding fayres so we’re really looking forward to it. If you know anyone who is getting married and looking for a photographer, this is an ideal way for them to meet us, see a selection of our work and chat informally about their wedding plans. And if you’re an existing client with a few other things still to book for your wedding, why not come along and meet some other suppliers? Well they say that things come in threes and it must be true! Just to re-cap for those who might not have been visiting our blog for very long, firstly Miranda, the editor from Cosmopolitan Bride and You & Your Wedding magazine contacted us to ask if they could use our photographs of Fran & David’s country garden wedding for one of their ‘real wedding’ features. Then we had a call from Brides Magazine saying they had chosen us as their exclusive wedding photographer for Derbyshire county in their 2010 wedding directory. Then our latest bit of news: last week we had contact from Cake & Pictures, asking us to be in their directory. Those in the industry will be familiar with Cake & Pictures, but for those who’ve not heard of it, here’s a description by Cake & Pictures themselves:

“Cake & Pictures is an exclusive directory of simply the finest wedding photographers in the world.”

I’ve long been aware of this highly reputable international directory and as you might expect, a number of my photographer ‘heroes’ are in there. What makes it even more special is that it’s by invitation only, and numbers are strictly limited. How limited? As I write this, we are one of only 3 wedding photographers listed for the UK, one of whom is the legendary Jeff Ascough! I can’t begin to tell you how excited we are to start on this journey with Cake & Pictures and we’re really looking forward to working with them over the coming months.

As well as being fantastic news for us on a personal and professional level we know our wonderful clients like to hear about developments like this – and of course we owe so much to them for inspiring us to create beautiful images. Thanks to all of you!

Brides Magazine’s Exclusive Photographer for Derbyshire!

We’ve been waiting a while to share this good news because we wanted to wait for the actual issue of the magazine to be published, but finally we can now reveal that Christian Ward Photography has been chosen by Brides Magazine to to be their one and only wedding photographer for Derbyshire county in their 2010 wedding directory! It’s a big deal for us on four counts.

1. Brides Magazine is the UK’s no.1 bridal magazine.
2. Whilst the vast majority of wedding directories feature long lists of suppliers in each category, Brides Magazine this year have chosen to pick exclusively just one supplier per category, per county.
3. This wedding directory has been put together based on quality. The magazine employed a team of researchers who trawled websites across the UK looking for the best.
4. It’s only been a few months since You & Your Wedding magazine asked us if they could feature our photographs of Fran & David’s Northamptonshire wedding.

Seeing the satisfaction of our clients when they see their photographs is the greatest reward for us, but it’s like the icing on the cake when we also get recognition from the wedding industry itself!

Over the last few weeks, Erica and I have been pretty busy working on developing our new office and showroom. At the same time we’re also taking the opportunity to re-brand. It’s been an exciting time! We’ve reviewed a raft of our photographs to date, attempted to sum up our style in just a few words, and then we handed our vision over to TimWardDesign to package it all up in a logo that encapsulates all that we do. We received back a number of logos but for us, the one we chose really fitted in with all that our photography is and all that we desire it to be for us and our clients. You’ve probably noticed the logo and overall feel of our website and blog changing recently, and over the next few weeks we’re going to be doing a more ceremonious launch of our new brand and our new space for meeting with clients. For now though we thought we’d just post a few images that we took in our new office the other day to show what a few of our wedding albums look like.

You & Your Wedding Magazine | Featured!

We’ve known about this for quite some time but wanted to save the news until today….today is the day that the latest issue of Cosmopolitan Bride’s ‘You & Your Wedding’ magazine hits the shelves. Why is that particularly important to us? Well, turn to page 66 of the latest issue and you’ll find 4 pages of our photographs from Francesca & David’s lovely wedding at Cranford Hall last year. Miranda, the editor of Cosmo Bride and You & Your Wedding approached us a few months ago having seen our photographs, and asked if they could run a ‘Real Wedding’ Feature using our photos…and the rest is history, as they say! Thanks again to Fran and David for the information they provided to Miranda for the write-up. Here it is, beginning with us getting the header image on the contents page!

Prizes Galore and Christian Ward Photography Blog v2.0

We have plans for 2010. Big plans. No, wait- big BIG plans.

No, wait again- BIG BIG BI…I think you get the message (about the big plans).

Our blog is going to become multi-dimensional. You’ll notice that at the moment we mainly use it to showcase the weddings we photograph in order to give you a better look at our work than what can be given in our website galleries. We like it that way but we realise it could be so much more. So it’s going to do all the stuff it usually does, but with extra content and a wider appeal:

-Want to read interviews with local wedding vendors that we like? Check.

-Want to see photos from some of the best wedding photographers around the world, and hear what they have to say to Christian Ward Photography? You betcha.

-Want general wedding day tips from wedding professionals for brides, grooms and photographers? Yessiree.

-Want Krispy Kreme doughnuts to be available by mail order? Well we want this too, but it’s not good news I’m afraid. Freshly baked goods don’t travel well in the post, apparently. I say it’s worth a shot- a squashed, 2 day old glazed maple doughnut is better than no maple glazed doughnut.

We’re excited about it and we just wanted to spread the news. Sign up to our blog, follow us on Twitter, become a fan of our Facebook page- just do whatever you need to do to ensure you don’t miss out on our updates. In fact, anybody signing up to all 3 (blog, Twitter and Facebook) during February 2010 will get a prize. Some people may be surprised at the level of detail we know about the visitors to our blog. Thanks to Google Analytics, we can easily run reports that tell us how many people visit our site, where they’re from, what they look at and how long for, whether they use a PC or a Mac, how they found our site, and a whole host of other things such as what they ate for tea last night. (I was joking about one of those things). It always surprises me just how far and wide our blog reaches, and so I thought I would share a snippet of information with you. Over the last 7 days alone, we have had visitors from no less than 11 countries; see below to see which ones!
