Bernie & John | Wimbledon Common Engagement Shoot

Bernie and John are a lovely couple- warm and friendly- and friends of the equally lovely Polly and Ralph whose wedding we photographed in Suffolk last year. When we met with Bernie and John the other weekend it was the first time we’d met face to face, and in fact we were joking about how when we first chatted to them about their wedding photography, we were in 3 separate locations in the UK, joined together by conference call! So the other weekend we headed down to Wimbledon and spent the morning with John chatting as we strolled around the grounds of the church where they’ll be married in a few months, and Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park. Both the church and Pembroke Lodge look like amazing places for a wedding, and Erica and I are really looking forward to being there. After Bernie was finished being player of the match in a netball away game, we all joined up and headed to Wimbledon Common for their engagement shoot. Wimbledon Common is a place where John and Bernie have spent much time strolling around and indeed the windmill there features in their wedding stationery designs, so it was great to be able to go somewhere for their shoot that means something to them! Here’s how it went:

Stephanie & Ashley | Clumber Park Engagement Shoot

We met up with Stephanie and Ashley recently for their pre-wedding photoshoot, in what turned out to be a perfectly timed window of glorious weather and light in an otherwise rather gloomy weekend. Their very well chosen location was Clumber Park, which oddly for somewhere so close, Christian and I have only visited once before, during last year’s snow. It was lovely to see it in the sunshine, and even nicer to spend our morning with Stephanie and Ashley, who are clearly perfect together and a dream to photograph. To top it all off in the ‘dream client’ stakes, they even treated us to tea and cake after the shoot while we ran through the plans for their big day next month at St. Peter and St. Paul’s church, Gringley on the Hill, and the Secret Garden. Thanks for a great morning Stephanie and Ashley – we hope you enjoy your photographs!

Katie & Tom | Sheffield Botanical Gardens Pre-wedding Photography

When we met up with Katie and Tom for their pre-wedding shoot at Sheffield Botanical Gardens, it was the first time we’d met. When Katie and Tom booked us they were living in New Zealand and so all our communication up until this point had been just by email, so it was nice to finally put a face to the type on the screen, and we started off in Starbucks for a chat first before walking up to Botanical Gardens for some pretty nice early evening sun. It was great getting to know the happy couple as we strolled around while chatting and taking some pictures, and we’re really looking forward to shooting their wedding at Sheffield Millenium Galleries in a few weeks time. Here’s a flavour of the shoot!

Laura & Matiss | Liverpool Engagement Photography

Laura and Matiss’s pre-wedding shoot saw us stepping foot in Liverpool for the first time. We started off in a quirkly little bistro where Erica and I ordered what turned out to be the mother of all pancakes….we thought ‘let’s have a little bit of breakfast before the shoot’…well, let me tell you this was no pancake for the faint-hearted…a huge buttermilk pancake, filled with oats and bananas…But back to the shoot; Laura and Matiss are an affectionate couple and interacted so nicely with each other in front of the camera. They were a little apprehensive beforehand as most of our clients are, but they were soon the consummate professionals and it was great to be able to be there to quietly document them together. Laura and Mattis are soon to be married at the Palm House in Liverpool and we’re really looking forward to being there. See you soon you two!

Laura and Mattis were very easy as clients. Their sole requirement? A jumping shot. I would call this more flying than jumping.

Catherine & Carl | Rock & Romance | Pre-wedding shoot

Catherine and Carl are getting married in Bakewell tomorrow, with their reception at the impressive Hassop Hall. Some may be wondering what the ‘Rock’ part of the post title is all about, so to fill you in, it’s a reference to Carl’s rock credentials as a musician in Laruso and his role of record producer. The shoot was originally scheduled a while back, but we’d gotten a call from Carl at an airport on his way to a record ‘emergency’ in San Francisco that he’d been called away for on the day of the shoot. It seemed pretty fitting then that we did their pre-wedding shoot at the site of Carl’s home and recording studio, and it was fun to be able to wander around the grounds in the countryside and capture photos in a place where so much time has been spent! Carl and Catherine are a really happy couple- fun to be around and fun to photograph, and it has to be said they make our job easy! They also wanted a few shots with their dog, Belle, who it has to be said did not make our job so easy! Belle is cute and crazy seemingly in equal proportions, though admittedly appears quite adept at posing for the camera in the photos below! Claire & Tom | Sheffield engagement photography

It’s always nice when our couples choose a location for their pre-wedding shoot that holds meaning for them. We met up with Claire and Tom (and their 4-legged friend Archie) in a wood in the Rivelin valley where they’ve spent much time enjoying walks, and though the weather had threatened rain a few times we were in luck and it stayed dry for the shoot. It had been some time since we originally met Claire and Tom for their enquiry meeting and it was great to hear about what they’ve been up to since then, and about their wedding plans for their big day that Erica and I are looking forward to shooting at Whirlowbrook Hall in Sheffield. Enjoy your pre-wedding photos Claire and Tom and we’ll see you soon!

Catrina & Stuart | Sheffield Botanical Gardens Engagement Photography

Catrina and Stuart are a happy, fun couple to be around, and we had a great time getting to know them both better during their pre-wedding shoot. It was our second visit in as many weeks to Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens, but with a venue as beautiful as this, we were more than happy to return! The lovely couple get married next month, with a reception at picturesque Crow Hill, and we can’t wait for the big day. Fran & Tim | Sheffield Botanical Gardens Engagement Photography

It was lovely to meet up with Fran and Tim again. They originally booked us quite some time ago, though their wedding date has proven to be THE most popular date for enquiries in 2011. I’m talking at least 20 enquiries for their date since they booked us! But anyway, we met up with this affectionate couple in Sheffield Botanical Gardens and took some pictures as we strolled and chatted, and they made it pretty easy to capture our usual relaxed, natural-looking portraits. Fran and Tim are getting married at the impressive Stoke Park Pavilions in Northamptonshire in August…it looks like an amazing setting for a wedding and we can’t wait to be there to capture their day as it unfolds!
